Bitron EP20 Engine Treatment is a unique 100% pure petroleum-based metal treatment that is compatible with all motor oils, including synthetics. Bitron EP20 Engine Treatment is engineered specifically for the internal combustion engine (Petrol, Diesel, LPG) and should not be confused with ordinary additives witch have marginal benefits. It is a metal treatment that does not replace your engine’s oil.
Bitron coats all metal surfaces with a protective layer of molecules. Without Bitron, within hours of turning your engine off, virtually no oil remains on engine parts. Bitron EP20 Engine Treatment helps protects your engine from wear, 90% of which occurs during cold starts in the first critical moments before the motor’s oil fully circulates. Unlike most oil additives and engine treatments, Bitron will not interfere with engineered tolerance and cannot adversely affect engine performance.
Bitron reduces friction and wear and so will extend the life of your oil and improve its lubricating qualities. It uses the package of additives present in your own oil and so takes on the characteristics of whichever oil it is used with (synthetic or mineral), and is effective under the most sever operating conditions. It is non-corrosive, contains no plastic particles, PTFE resins (Poly Tetra Fluoro Ethylene – Teflon), molybdenum disulphide, lead or any other metal.
Bitron helps break the vicious cycle of heat from friction expanding the metal – causing more friction – which may ultimately cause engine failure. Conventional oil becomes less viscous at elevated temperatures and flows away from heat. Bitron, however, is attracted to any hot spots (areas where engineering tolerances make for increased friction and therefore more heat and wear) because with the increased temperature there will be an increase in negative charge which attracts more of the positively charged Bitron. This provides increased lubrication of the metal where it is needed most.
The unique specially developed and proven product can be a tremendous boost to the efficiency of vehicles and machinery. To maximise these benefits, you should utilise the entire Bitron product line.

Directions for use:
Initial treatment:
Add Bitron EP20 Engine Treatment at a ratio of 10% of the sump volume, using your existing oil. Run the engine for approximately 1200km or 8 hours before performing an oil change and replacing the oil filter/s.
Subsequent treatment:
Add Bitron EP20 Engine Treatment at a ratio of 5% of the sump volume with each oil change as recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
If unsure of treatment ratios and special applications contact your distributor.
The cleaning action of the Bitron EP20 Engine Treatment may lead to a blackening and thickening of the oil, due to hydrocarbon build-up that was already in the engine before Bitron was added. Note that it is these contaminants that have made the oil dirty, not Bitron. The condition of the oil should be checked frequently (especially during the first 1200km or 8 hours) and changed as soon as it is dirty, or at regular maintenance intervals.
Note: In new equipment and vehicles the initial 10% treatment can be omitted.
Points to note:
1. While Bitron EP20 Engine Treatment can be added to oil of any condition, its abilities will be enhanced if it is added to fresh, clean oil.
2. using less than the recommended amount of Bitron EP20 Engine Treatment may reduce its effectiveness
3. The use of Bitron EP20 Engine Treatment in an engine does not affect its ability to be rebuilt. Rebuilt engines require a running-in period of around 1200km or 8 hours prior to the addition of Bitron products.
4. When performing oil analysis, the first and second samples after adding Bitron EP20 Engine Treatment may show higher than normal particle readings, due to the cleaning action of the product. Subsequent analysis (ie 3rd and 4th samples) will show a substantial reduction in the wear factor.
5. Care should be taken not to overfill your engine.
Note: Rebuilt engines require a settling-in period and should be "run in" for about 2,000 klms prior to the addition of Bi-Tron products. This allows the rings to seat and larger irregularities to be worn down.
For high-mileage vehicles, Bi-Tron will remove the Hydrocarbon build-up which is often quite substantial. This may lead to a blackening and thickening of the oil combined with a reduction in its lubricating qualities. You may find it appropriate to change the oil, or at the very least check its condition, 1,000 - 1,500 klms of driving after Bi-Tronizing your vehicle. Customers may claim that Bi-Tron has dirtied their oil. Please remember that the contaminants have made the oil dirty, not Bi-Tron. The customer must understand that this specially engineered Engine Formulation has actually performed a service for them - freeing their engine of harmful contaminants - that their standard engine oil could not.
 |
Results should include:
• A quieter and smoother engine with a lighter and quicker throttle response
• An increase in top-end RPM
• Less decrease in speed while hill-climbing requiring fewer gear changes
• Easier cold weather starting
• Releasing of piston rings that are fouled or frozen from hydrocarbon residue
• Reduction in oil consumption and hydrocarbon emissions
• Maximising of compression and horsepower
• Improvement in fuel efficiency due to reduction of friction throughout the engine
Turbo chargers often have tremendous problems with high RPM causing lubricants to oxidise quite quickly. The drop in oil pressure when the engine is turned off, while the turbines are still rotating, tends to leave the bearings (especially thrust areas) isolated from oil flow. This causes the small amount of oil left around the shaft and bearings to carbonise, leaving carbon and sludge residue. Bitron EP20 Engine Treatment will reduce the friction and heat in turbo chargers, and prevent carbon build-up.
 |
|
Points to note:
1. Bitron is not a cure-all for mechanical problems. In some cases the detergent effects of Bitron may expose pre-existing problems (eg damaged seals or gaskets)
2. Bitron EP20 Engine Treatment will not undo pre-existing wear, but could help extend engine life.
3. The addition of Bitron EP20 Engine Treatment may result in increased idling RPM due to a reduction in friction. Re-adjust idle RPM to the equipment manufacturer’s recommended setting – to maximise fuel economy and reduce emissions. |
 |
There is often a question concerning the possible threat of cancellation of warranties by the manufacturers should additives be used in their equipment or vehicles. Not only will Bitron not void warranties, it will probably dramatically extend the working life of your engine, its oil and its components. Like oil, Bitron is purely hydrocarbon in its make-up and so is compatible with all mineral and synthetic oils. It contains no solids of any kind and is non-corrosive. There is nothing present which could cause any damage of any kind to metal components or seals. Therefore, even if its presence could be detected it could NOT void any warranty. Coating a metal with a protective layer of oil cannot contribute to excessive wear or breakdown of the metal.
It is not a simple matter for manufacturers to just void a warranty without providing sufficient evidence to justify their actions. The manufacturer must prove that the use of any product caused the claimed-for damage and that it was not due to their component failure. Damage within the boundaries of a warranty caused by improper lubrication will in fact be covered either by the manufacturer’s warranty or our own product liability insurance.

• Optimises the efficiency of the drive train
• Compatible with ALL mineral & synthetic gear oil and hydraulic fluids
• Reduces friction and wear
• Will not void warranties
• Backed by our product liability insurance
• Pure petroleum-based
• Non-corrosive
• No solids, PTFE or metal
• Mix at 5% to gear oils or hydraulic fluids
Available sizes: 5L, 20L, 75L & 200L
Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation is engineered to be compatible with gear oils such as Automatic Transmission Fluid, Mercon & Dexron as well as hydraulic fluids. It is designed to reduce friction in extreme pressure situations, contributing to a reduction in wear and tear and operating temperatures. Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation coats the metal with a protective layer of molecules. It will actually be attracted into areas of high wear because the extra friction creates extra heat and so extra negative charge, whereas conventional oil will run away from that area. The reduction in friction leads to less waste of energy (energy lost in the form of heat & noise). This means that more energy is free to pass through the drive train providing an improvement in horsepower or power output at the wheels.
Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation is probably one of the more versatile products in the Bitron family. Its uniquely engineered pure hydrocarbon base makes it completely compatible with a wide range of different gear & bearing oils as well as hydraulic & cutting fluids.

Directions:
Initial Treatment: Add Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation at a ratio of 10% of the volume of the reservoir being treated. Check oil/hydraulic fluid after 1000km-1500km (10-15hrs) and change if necessary.
Subsequent treatments: Add Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation at the rate of 5% of the volume of the reservoir being treated with each oil change as recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
The optimum ratio (if in any doubt) is 5% of the overall volume of the casing (not the quantity of oil) being treated. This is the same ratio regardless of how large the case is. The Bitron needs to be re-applied only when the fluid is changed according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
If unsure of treatment ratios and special applications contact your distributor.
Points to note:
1. Automatic transmissions that have dirty fluid or have not been maintained should be serviced before being treated with Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation.
2. Differentials or standard transmissions with excessive sediment and deposits may need to have a fluid change after Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation has completed its cleaning. If this is required, more Bitron will have to be added.
3. Do not overfill transmissions, differentials, transfer cases or power steering reservoirs. If necessary, fluid may need to be drained before adding Bitron.
4. When performing oil analysis, the first and second samples after adding Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation may show higher than normal particle readings, due to the cleaning action of the product. Subsequent analysis will show a substantial reduction in the wear factor
Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation is not compatible with brake fluids and should never be added to brake system master cylinders. It should be noted that many hydraulic clutch systems use brake fluid, not hydraulic oil, and Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation should not be used.
Not suitable for use in wet clutches or brake systems.
Treatment results should include:
1. Smoother, faster shifting of gears in manual and automatic transmissions
2. reduction of transmission gear howl and vibration
3. less torque loss and increase in actual power to the drive train
This product will not cause “slippage” in either manual or automatic transmissions. On the contrary, its use results in smoother, easier gear changes. Clutches need friction to operate – the clutch plates in an automatic transmission are bathed in transmission fluid but are fibrous in makeup (similar to brake pads) and so should be treated with Bitron. Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation coats and protects the complex systems of metal gears that make up the remainder of any transmissions or gearbox.
Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation will assist in the protection of the automatic transmission or gearbox from friction and reduce the heat build-up which destroys the effectiveness of the fluid (the major cause of failure).
Note: Bitron is non-corrosive and cannot negatively affect the material of the seals or gaskets. It is a metal treatment and treats only the metal surfaces.
Caution: Bitron will not restore damaged seals that are already hardened and cracked.
For regular, limited slip or Posi-Trac differentials, gears and transfer cases, mix at 5% Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation by volume. Differentials are subjected to considerable heat and friction due to the loads and stress of gears. Laboratory tests and actual use have proven the Bitron decreases internal oil temperatures in differentials anywhere from 5-20 degrees C. The pressures in these systems are huge and the metal surfaces are subject to severe stresses. Bitron will not interfere with the biting points of these systems but will protect the metal from excessive wear.
Treatment results should include:
1. reduced operating temperatures
2. reduced differential noise (gear howl)
Caution Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation is not intended for gears that have sheared or are on the verge of lock-up, unless this is due to overheating and has not yet resulted in welding.
BITRON AND LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIALS (LSD)
What is the purpose of a differential?
A LSD is basically a modified differential gear arrangement that allows for differences in the velocity of the wheels, most commonly when turning. As a vehicle turns, the wheels spin at different velocities with the outside wheels spinning faster than the inside wheels. This is due to the wheels having to travel different distances to execute the turn. Without a differential of some kind, the wheels would be ‘locked ’ together forcing them all to spin at the same speed. This would make turning extremely difficult and hard on the vehicle. Effectively to make the turn, the tyre would need to slip. This requires a large amount of force which puts added strain on other components such as the axle.
TYPES OF LSD
Broadly speaking, there are 2 types of LSD; torque sensitive and speed sensitive.
Torque Sensitive LSD
Also known as mechanical LSD’s because there is interaction between 2 or more mechanical parts such as clutch discs. Mechanical LSD’s include clutch & cone and helical gears. These all respond to torque generated by the drive-shaft of the vehicle. The more torque produced by the drive-shaft the harder the gears are pressed together. As torque increases, the wheels are coupled together more closely.
There are three basic input torque states;
1.No Load where there is little/no coupling. Some LSD’s use a small spring loading mechanism so that when the vehicle is in neutral for instance there is a small amount of torque which keeps the wheels minimally coupled.
2.Load where the coupling is directly proportional to the amount of torque being produced
3.Over-run where the behaviour of the LSD determines whether it is 1 way, 1.5 way or 2 way. 1 way LSD’s behave in a similar way to a conventional diff where when the throttle is lifted the LSD unlocks and there is no additional coupling. 2 way LSD’s increase coupling whether the input torque is in forward or reverse. 1.5 way LSD’s are a compromise between the other two.
Generally speaking 1 way coupling is safer particularly with FWD vehicles whilst 2 way coupling which allow the wheels to continue spinning into a corner regardless of throttle input is for more experienced drivers looking for more high performance handling.
A clutch type LSD makes use stacked clutch discs half of which are coupled to the drive-shaft and the other half to the spider gear carrier. The more torque that is applied the greater the pressure on the clutch discs which results in greater coupling of the wheels. As the vehicle turns , pressure rings adjacent to the clutch discs are forced side-ways which results in more pressure on the clutch discs. Cone LSD’s work in a similar fashion using cones instead of clutch stacks.
Clutch type LSD’s generally have very specific ‘break-in’ periods which allow any imperfections on the metal surfaces to be worked out. Failure to follow break-in procedures can result in permanent damage to the LSD.
Geared LSD’s use worm gears rather than clutch plates or cones and ‘sense the torque speed on one shaft and ‘move’ it to the other rather than actively controlling ‘slip’ like the clutch and cone type LSD’s do. Geared LSD’s are more dependent on the actual torque rather than the difference in speed between the output shaft.
Speed Sensitive LSD
These are generally simpler as they rely on the hydrodynamic friction produced by high viscosity fluids. They make use of a cylindrical chamber filled with a high viscosity fluid. Perforated discs are stacked within the fluid and alternately coupled to one of the drive-shafts or the differential carrier. They rotate with the output shafts. Differential motion such as turning forces the discs to move through the fluid against each other. In some speed sensitive LSD’s the heat produced from constant friction thins out the fluid causing it to expand. This can lead to non-viscous plate to plate friction causing a noticeable reduction in the speed difference between the drive-shafts.
Speed sensitive LSD’s tend to be less efficient due to this loss of power. Sustained heavy loads cause the fluid to thin out resulting in the permanent loss of differential effect. When this happens, they tend to behave in a similar manner to an open differential. Many of these types of LSD are not serviceable and require replacement as the viscous fluid is usually in a sealed unit.
There are other types of speed sensitive LSD’s such as electronic LSD’s which utilise a computer to monitor the speed of each wheel and in cases where one or more wheels are spinning unusually fast, gently apply braking to these wheels which allows the other wheels to increase in speed. On the whole, these systems which often rely on such things as ABS place much less stress on the drivetrain than mechanical LSD.
BITRON AND LSD
Bitron EP40 can be safely used in all types of LSD. Where the LSD is mechanical it is IMPERATIVE that the manufacturers ‘break-in’ procedure is followed to ensure that the LSD operates correctly and no permanent damage is done. Bitron EP40 SHOULD NOT be used during this settling in period. Once the ‘break-in’ procedure has been followed as per the manufacturer’s directions, Bitron EP40 should be added at between 5% and 10% of the LSD oil capacity. We recommend that if the vehicle is going to be operated under high load, then 10% should be added. Vehicles not operated under consistent high load should add Bitron EP40 at 5% of the LSD oil volume.
With speed sensitive LSD, Bitron EP40 should be added at 10% of the LSD oil volume. This will ensure less heat induced friction extending the life of the viscous oil – generally silicone is used. Bitron EP40 will not react with high viscosity oils in any adverse way.
Whether the vehicle has a mechanical or speed sensitive LSD, Bitron EP40 will place a protective layer over the clutch discs, cones or perforated discs protecting against heat induced friction. This allows greater torque output with less friction to the discs resulting in increased operating life. Bitron EP40 will not cause excessive slippage within the LSD which can result in less power output.
Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation is compatible with all steering units. Mix at 5% by volume.
Treatment results should include:
1. Easier steering
2. Increased pump flow in worn or dirty power steering units
3. Increase in life expectancy of unit due to decreased wear.
Note: Bitron is not intended to restore mechanical failure.
Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation is completely compatible with hydraulic oils and should be used at a 5% ratio. It will coat the entire system with a protective layer, reducing operating temperatures and wear. Most of the heat in these systems is generated by extreme pressures. This heat will cause the metal to expand and so increase the level of friction and wear, which will then in turn contribute to the heat further expanding the metal, creating more friction and so on.
Clutches that are bathed in oil should be treated with Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation at a 6% ratio. It will not interfere with the biting points of clutch plates or cause any slippage. Clutch plates are made from fibrous material, not metal , and so are not affected.
Note: Clutches and transmissions that have common sump oiling with an engine (most four-stroke motorcycles) should be treated with Bi-Tron's Engine Treatment at the ratios recommended for that product.
Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation is compatible with most drilling fluids.
Mix 6% Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation by volume. Air-Conditioner compressors are a tremendous source of power draw on engines. Before adding, please check with your service technician for assistance.
There are many other areas where friction can be a source of problems. Many engineers have used their imagination finding new ways of utilizing the many properties of Bi-Tron. Keep in mind that Bitron EP40 Powertrain & Gear Formulation can be used wherever friction is found. The rule-of-thumb for mix percentage is 6% by volume. It may be advisable to use up to 10% when quick response is required.

Bitron P900 Petrol Power Treatment
(Petrol Power Plus)
• Compatible with leaded and unleaded petrols
• Improves mileage and performance
• Reduces friction and wear
• Maximises power and compression
• Optimises engine performance
• Cleans and lubricates carburettors, injectors, rotary fuel pumps and top end
• Improves cold starting
• Keeps fuel tank and lines water and fungus free and extends the life of fuel
• Pure petroleum based
• Non corrosive
• No solids, PTFE or metal

Bitron P900 Petrol Power Treatment is a complex blend of petro-chemicals designed to oxygenate and improve the burn characteristics of the fuel (leaded and unleaded) regardless of octane rating. It is formulated with use in any petrol or alcohol powered engines (even propane and natural gas).
The Petrol Power Treatment improves the fuel’s lubricity, coating all metal surfaces throughout the fuel system and upper engine with a protective layer, reducing friction and wear. Bitron P900 will coat the entire top-end (injectors, carburettors, spark plugs and valves) & fuel pumps with molecules, preventing the build-up of hydrocarbons and increasing engine life. It will even break down gums and varnishes, reducing existing carbon build-up and minimising pre-ignition and dieseling. In the fuel tank it will slow down degradation of fuels due to moisture build-up and fungal growth, and will in fact absorb moisture and prevent freeze-up.
Bitron P900 Petrol Power Treatment improves the structure of the combustion, increasing the temperature of combustion and the amount of available oxygen in the fuel itself. This means that when the fuel burns, oxygen has already been introduced into the chemical makeup of the fuel and becomes a key component. The net result is that the fuel ignites and burns faster, hotter and more completely, so that more of the energy is released from the fuel. In terms of emissions this means that the carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbon (HC) levels will most likely be dramatically reduced.
Points to note:
1. The process of cleaning the fuel tank and lines can result in clogging of fuel filters. It is advisable to change the fuel filters after the first two tanks of Bitron P900.
2. Using less than recommended amounts will reduce effectiveness.
3. Most modern cars today can, with the use of Bitron P900 Petrol Power Treatment, run perfectly well on regular unleaded fuel.
4. Bitron P900 Petrol Power Treatment is non-corrosive and contains no solids, PTFE resins, molybdenum, lead or any other metals.
Directions for use:
Initial Treatment:
Add Bitron P900 Petrol Power Treatment at 4L per 1000L of petrol (4ml/Litre) for the first two tanks of fuel.

Bitron D110 Diesel Fuel Treatment
Bitron D110 Diesel Fuel Treatment is a proprietary blend of lubricity additives, a multifunctional detergent and cetane improver. The product is formulated for use in all grades of diesel fuel. It is particularly recommended for use in low sulphur diesel where added lubricity is of paramount importance to protect the injectors.
Bitron D110 will prevent moisture from accumulating and ongoing treatment with the product is recommended to prevent the formation of fungus (diesel bug) – which can be a major problem in storage tanks. (For tanks already infected we strongly recommend treating the fuel initially with Bitron D4060 Fungal Kill.)
Bi-Tron D110 Diesel Fuel Treatment contains multi-functional detergent and lubricity additives and a cetane enhancer blended specifically for low, ultra-low sulphur and bio-diesels.
Bi-Tron Diesel Fuel Conditioner is a complex combination of petro-chemicals which is designed to increase the lubricity and improve combustion of diesel fuels. It penetrates and removes carbon build-up, gums and sludge and lubricates the moving metal parts of both the fuel supply system and the engine's top-end. The product is compatible with all types and grades of diesel fuel. Use of the Conditioner extends the life of the diesel engine and improves the efficiency of fuel combustion, thereby reducing fuel consumption.
Bi-Tron Diesel Fuel Conditioner is a non-extractable and ashless conditioner which serves as a multi-functional lubricant, and conforms with EPA regulations when used in diesel fuel. It is non-corrosive and contains no solids.
The Diesel Conditioner is engineered to improve the burn structure of the diesel fuel so that it burns faster, hotter and more completely. More energy is extracted from the fuel and because it is being burned more completely, lower levels of Carbon Monoxide and Hydrocarbons are expelled in exhaust emissions. Sulphur has been removed from diesel fuels throughout Australia in the interest of reducing toxic and acidic emissions. As a result, the fuel is not burning as well and damage is being done to the upper engine and fuel pumps due to a lack of lubrication. The conditioner will improve the lubricity of the fuel and coat all metal surfaces throughout the fuel system and upper engine with a protective layer of oil. In the upper engine it coats injectors and valves with a layer of oil and will even remove existing gums and varnishes and prevent future build-up. This means that these vital components can operate to the optimum level that their engineered parameters will allow.
Bi-Tron Diesel Fuel Conditioner's improved lubricity makes for easier starts and smoother running engines and will help prevent winter fuel from gelling at low temperatures while improving the lubricity of this much thinner fuel. It also breaks down the surface tension of water (from condensation) in diesel fuel protecting the injectors and fuel filters, and lubricates and protects the upper cylinder walls and fuel pump from wear.
The conditioner also extends the life of diesel fuel in storage tanks. It slows the degradation of the fuel caused by the polymerization and breakdown of hydrocarbons preventing sludge formation, colour deterioration, a disagreeable odour and even fungus growth. The conditioner can be used to improve heating oil combustion and protect the pumps and injectors.
Bi-Tron's Diesel Fuel Conditioner is compatible with all Grades of diesel fuel, heating oils etc. But may not be totally miscible with crude, heavy bunker C grade fuel.
Possible applications range from stationary engines to diesel cars, trucks and marine engines, from single cylinder systems to massive heavy duty industrial multi-cylinder engines.

RECOMMENDED DOSAGE
Add Bitron D110 at a rate of 2L per 1000L (2ml/L) of fuel. For best results, Bitron D110 should be added each time the tank is filled.
Applications using Bitron D110 at the recommended dosage should begin to show almost immediate improvements in the form of decreases in emissions and black and white smoke. The lubricity component in Bitron D110 will provide immediate injector protection particularly in applications using low or ultra-low sulphur diesel. Rotary fuel pumps on most modern day vehicles are completely fuel lubricated. As the fuel is abrasive, the fuel wears these fuel pumps, and other fuel lubricated metal parts which are very expensive to repair or replace. The top ring on the piston is ONLY fuel lubricated hence the need for the additional lubrication provided by Bitron D110 Diesel Fuel Treatment.

INFORMATION REGARDING TREATMENT OF FUNGUS IN DIESEL FUEL
Treatment of Fungus in Diesel Fuel
What is Diesel Fungus?
Diesel fungus describes a number of living organisms that can be found in diesel fuel. They are either fungal or bacterial but both cause similar problems in affected fuel.
What Causes Diesel Fungus?
Diesel fungus is caused when moisture or water comes into contact with diesel. There are a number of ways that this can happen the most common ways being:
Incorrect handling and storage procedures
Tanks without adequate seals.
Diesel left standing for long periods of time allowing moisture to gradually build up
Diesel stored in tanks that are not full. This can be a particular problem in hot humid areas where the tanks “breathe” causing condensation.
What Problems can Diesel Fungus Cause?
Natural by-products especially organic acids which make the fuel unstable
Blocked fuel filters
Reduced power output
Increased fuel usage.
Damage to the fuel system
Does Bitron Kill Diesel Fungus?
Bitron D110 Diesel Fuel Treatment contains a fungicide which is designed to kill most diesel fungus and bacteria. The product can be used as both a maintenance dose to keep diesel bug at bay in unaffected tanks or as a “kill” dose in tanks already affected with diesel bug. The amount of product required and treatment procedure varies depending on whether the tank is unaffected or affected by the bug.
What is a Maintenance Dose?
Bitron D110 is effective in keeping stored diesel fungus free. An initial maintenance dose of 3 ml/Litre should be added to a full tank of diesel.
It is important that the tank has not already been infected with diesel fungus otherwise a kill dose should be used instead. Each time the tank is refilled or topped up, Bitron D110
Each time the tank is refilled or topped up, Bitron D110 should be added at a ratio of 2 ml/Litre of the top up volume.
How do I get rid of Diesel Bug?
If the tank is already infected then the following steps should be followed:
If there is only a small amount of stored diesel in the storage tank it is often better to empty the tank entirely and thoroughly clean the tank. DISPOSE of the waste diesel as pumping back in will re-infect the tank.
If disposing of the contents of the tank is not an option then add Bitron D110 at a ratio of 3ml/Litre of the volume of diesel being treated. Ensure the product is mixed through the diesel then allow to sit for 48hrs.
The fuel can then be used but is important to use a filtering device when pumping the diesel out as the dead fungus will fall to the bottom of the tank. When the tank has reached your defined low point, dispose of the leftover diesel and thoroughly clean the tank before refilling. (panty hose is good to filter fuel).
Continue to treat the diesel at the maintenance level to ensure the fuel does not become infected again.
It is important to note that Bitron D110 will not help in cases where the diesel is exposed to large amounts of water. Tanks that are heavily infected with bug may require 2 kill doses.
How can I prevent Diesel Bug?
Use Bitron D110 regularly in all tanks where diesel is stored
Ensure tanks are kept full where possible as this reduces the space where moisture can accumulate.
Maintaining a tank at half full allows water to build up which in turn promotes diesel fungus and corrosion in the top half of the tank.
Tank maintenance – ensure tanks are cleaned regularly to remove moisture, dirt and other particles that can collect.
Do not store fuel beyond its storage time – in the case of diesel no longer than 12months in cooler climates and between 6-12months in warm humid climates.
Where the facility exists, water should be removed from the tanks weekly.
Ensure tanks have a well defined low point where water can collect and be drained.

Bitron EP70 Lith-Plex
Lithium Complex (TAC) Grease
Bitron EP70 is an extreme pressure complex lithium-base grease. This
multi-purpose grease has been formulated to provide excellent anti-wear
and load carrying properties. EP70 LITH-PLEX has been designed to operate
over a wide range of temperatures and with the addition of corrosion,
rust and oxidation inhibitors as well as a tackiness additive, EP70
LITH-PLEX provides a high resistance to washout and is ideal for use
in applications where water is a problem. Bitron EP70 is a NLGI 2 grease
and is an ideal choice for any applications operating under high loads,
temperatures and where shear stability is essential. Bitron EP70 LITHPLEX
provides a long service life for all applications and particularly for
applications subjected to extreme loads, temperatures and shock conditions.
Applications:
Bitron EP70 LITH-PLEX is highly recommended for use in a wide range
of applications in the agricultural, mining, marine, industrial and
transport industries. EP70 LITH-PLEX is particularly recommended for
use in gears, couplings and both anti-friction and plain bearings. Bitron
EP70 is an ideal choice for chassis, wheel bearings, sealed bearings
and ball joints especially when subjected to extreme shock and heat
or where rust is an issue.
Characteristics:
? WATER RESISTANCE
Bitron EP70 LITH-PLEX has been formulated to provide excellent resistance
to water washout and is therefore highly recommended for use in applications
that are subjected to water or wet conditions.
Water washout occurs when water literally washes out the grease causing
contamination, corrosion and rusting. As EP70 is a “tacky”
or thicker grease, it provides a high degree of protection when it’s
required.
? TEMPERATURE
Much of today’s machinery has been developed to operate under
larger extremes of temperature. This makes it essential to use lubricants
that will provide the protection required to maximise the operating
life of often very expensive parts. Bitron EP70 LITH-PLEX has been formulated
to provide protection over a wide range of high and low temperatures.
EP70 provides exceptional protection for constant temperature ranges
from -10c through to 175c and intermittent temperatures up to 220c.
? EXTREME PRESSURE & STABILITY
An important consideration with any grease is its ability to retain
shear stability whilst subjected to extreme pressure. Shear or mechanical
stability is the ability of a grease to retain its consistency when
“worked” or under load. EP70 has a worked penetration of
280 and drop point > 85c. This enables Bitron EP70 LITH-PLEX to remain
stable under a wide range of operating conditions providing extra anti-wear
protection where it’s most needed.
? OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
Bitron EP70 contains antioxidants providing oxidation stability and
corrosion and rust inhibitors. These ensure minimal build-up of sludges,
gum and varnish which can significantly increase wear and cause sluggish
operation. Corrosion and rust inhibitors provide protection against
build- up; particularly in equipment subjected to water or constantly
wet conditions.
Recommendation:
Bitron EP70 LITH-PLEX has been formulated as multi-purpose grease with
enhanced EP and anti-wear properties designed to outperform other comparable
products currently available. Combined with our carefully selected tackiness
and adhesive agents and oxidation and rust inhibitors, EP70 can be used
in a wide range of industries and applications. Bitron highly recommend
EP70 LITH-PLEX for use particularly in the agricultural, transport,
mining, marine and heavy industrial industries. EP70 is particularly
useful in applications where water washout, high temperatures or heavy
loads are of concern. Bitron EP70 LITH-PLEX is suitable for rolling
element bearings, plain bearings, chassis parts, gears and couplings
amongst other things.
It will provide enhanced protection in a wide variety of equipment from
farm machinery, trucks and buses through to mining equipment and earth-
moving equipment. Steel mills, cane crushing plants, underground tunnelling
or mining and ore crushing plants will definitely benefit from use of
EP70. Bitron EP70 LITH-PLEX provides enhanced protection against the
ravages of dust corrosion, water and rust and will add value to machinery
and vehicle assets when used as part of a regular lubrication and servicing
program. EP70 is available in 450g cartridges and 20kg drums suitable
for use with standard grease guns and pumps as well as 180kg drums.
